JULY 2014

Rodgers & Hammerstein's first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative. Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA!

Based on the 1924 stage play adapted by Hamilton Deane from the Bram Stoker novel, DRACULA was revised for American audiences by John L. Balderston in 1927 went it moved from England to Broadway. This was the production that starred Bela Lugosi in his first major English-speaking role. He reprised the roll in the 1931 Universal film, which was also based heavily on the Deane-Balderston play. This new adaptation by William McNulty is also based on the Deane-Balderston version, but envisages the immortal count as a truly evil and vicious monster. It is NOT the version that had your Great-Grand Mother fainting when Lugousi held out his curled fingers toward the audience. This production promises to be quite a bit creepier and a GREAT deal bloodier than what audiences originally saw in the 1920's and 1950's.Capable of enormous charm and manners when it suits his needs, DRACULA is a creature that thrives upon the blood and suffering of his victims.

Over forty-five of Monterey Peninsula’s top creative theatrical talent are joining forces to present MPC FOLLIES on Feb 6,7,8, 2015 on the Morgan Stock Main Stage at Monterey Peninsula College. This fun & fund raising musical production will help underwrite MPC Theatre’s 2015-16 season.

Budget cuts have made it necessary to seek outside funding for all MPC shows. Written and directed by Walt deFaria, the show brings together actors, musicians and behind-the-scenes personnel who are all contributing their services.

In this action-packed adaptation of the classic adventure story, precocious Mowgli grows up believing he's as fierce a wolf as any of the members of his pack. When he learns he is actually a human, he must discover how to reconcile these very different identities, and decide whether to remain with the pack, or return to the human world from which he was born. What will he choose? And will he be trained in the Law of the Jungle in time to defeat Shere Khan, the most feared animal of all?
